February 10/11, 2015: LOVE&HOPE FOR TOHOKU (7th Event)

This year again, SWTJ is organizing a 2-day charity concert/ family event in Kyoto!

Feb 10 (Tue) and 11 (Wed) 2015 
All profits of the event will be used to send musicians to Tohoku to play for evacuees in temporary housing or in homes for the elderly during the 4th Anniversary period of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami of March 11 2011.
Come join us on Feb 10/11 ! 
Have fun, meet some great people, and help us send musicians to Tohoku for the Anniversary in March!

HOW TO GO:
From Keihan Sanjo Station in Kyoto: Cross the bridge, turn left to the south immediately, walk along the road that looks down to the river for a few meters, then turn right into Daikoku cho. The VOX Building is a few meters ahead of you, after crossing Kiyamachi-dori, on your right.
From Kawaramachi/Sanjo: walk to Sanjo Bridge, turn right and walk south along the river up to the first turn, turn right into Daikoku cho, the VOX Building is a few meters ahead of you, after crossing Kiyamachi-dori, on your right.

PROGRAM Tuesday Feb 10: 
FIDDLE AND GUITAR CONCERT by the fantastic Tabula Rasa (Takehiro Kunigi, fiddle; Fukue Genta, guitar):
DOORS OPEN: 18:00
LIVE CONCERT STARTS: 19:00
TICKETS: 3,000Yen at the door (2,800 Yen for tickets reserved in advance). Reserve your ticket by sending an email with your full name and the number of tickets you wish to reserve to:

9 hours of SWTJ photo exhibition, live music and workshops for people of all ages. Great fun for families!
Kids elementary school and younger: entrance free.

WORKSHOPS: Free fun Tambourine Workshop with amazing artist Tajima/ Yamaguri Puppet Making (small fee for materials)/Naruto Kokeshi wooden puppet painting (small fee for materials)/Wooden Broach Painting (small fee for materials)/ 
St. Valentine Chocolate Cookie Decorating and Wrapping (small fee for materials)/ Bag Decorating with Potato Stamps (small fee for materials). 
Snacks and drinks will be sold at the event. Look out for our   takoyaki dumplings and cotton candy!

2月10日、11日の2日間、SWTJのチャリティーイベント第7弾を開催します。1日目は、ちょっぴり大人なライブを愉しむ夜、2日目は、こどもから大人まで皆で愉しめる、お祭りイベント。会場では、SWTJ写真展「3月11日から、これからと」も両日共に同時開催いたします。

ご家族とお友達と。来月震災から4年を迎える東北への想いを馳せて過ごす時間に、ぜひお越しください。SWTJはこれからも、ー わすれないとは、続けること。ー をモットーに活動を続けていきます。

Exhibition, Voice from Tohoku in Kyoto



June 13-29,  2014

Kyoto Fundraising Campaign 
for the SWTJ Tohoku Kids’ Camp in August 2014!

SWTJ is staging a 2-week long series of events in Kyoto to keep giving a voice to Tohoku evacuees, and to raise the funds for the 2014 SWTJ Tohoku Kids’ Camp in August!

Come and take part in one or several of these events to hear how Tohoku is doing today, to mingle with SWTJ members (and, on June 21, with evacuees from Tohoku), and to simply enjoy!

SWTJ TALK “Listening to the voice of Tohoku today”

2pm-2:40pm:
Nobuyuki Seto, leader of the SWTJ music team, explains SWTJ activites and informs about the SWTJ August Kids’ Camp
2:40pm-3:10pm: Eiko Ohta, herself an evacuee from Tohoku, talks about her experiences since the earthquake and tsunami on March 11, 2011
3:10pm-3:40pm: Nishiyama Yuko, leader of the group “Mina no Te,” an association of evacuees from Fukushima, talks about experiences of evacuees from Fukushima who have resettled in Kyoto.
3:40pm-4:20pm: “Ochakko”-Time (time for socializing and questions over a cup of tea).
Place: Kyoto Holy Trinity Church of the Anglican-Episcopal Church of Japan
(important cultural property of the city of Kyoto).

Free SWTJ Tambourine Workshop for Kids!

Open from: 1:30pm
Start: 2pm
Bring your kids and let them enjoy this amazing free workshop by tambourine artist and musician Tajima ! There will also be a SWTJ flea market, and cotton candy will be on sale!
Place: Kyoto Holy Trinity Church of the Anglican-Episcopal Church of Japan
(important cultural property of the city of Kyoto).

at swtj's first 2013 charity live event: feb 3 (sun) 2013

experience takahiro kunugi's captivating irish fiddling performance while getting a rare chance to see a Fascinating traditional taisho period theater in the heart of kyoto from the inside

SWTJ Photo Exhibition in Kyoto from August 23-28, 2011


5 months after the earthquake and tsunami in northeastern Japan, 

many evacuees still live in evacuation centers or crammed

temporary housing. SWTJ has been organizing soup kitchens and 

events for kids in the disaster area since April. Come and see SWTJ' 

work in pictures, meet SWTJ members, and enjoy one of the 

traditional snacks we prepare together with kids in evacuation 

centers, schools, day care centers, and temporary housing-villages 

in Tohoku.

*On August 27 (Sat), SWTJ will report on its activities from 


6pm, followed by a party during which you can try the snacks 


SWTJ makes for kids in Tohoku, including takoyaki 


dumplings and cotton-candy. These will be on sale together with 


home-made sangria and a series of SWTJ 


Solidarity Goods. All profits will be used for support activities 


by SWTJ in the disaster area.
